Pastor's Weekly Message

Greetings to the people of God and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church~

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."  Hebrews 13:8

Beginning with thanks, thanks for the many kind remembrances of my birthday last week.  Being the new kid of the block it was more than expected.  There were a ridiculous amount of chocolate chips in cookies, and many other goodies.  Maybe my back was hurting this week because of the difficulty in trying to reach shoe laces.

The weather continues to amaze, and provide yet another reason to give thanks.  Warm days, cool evenings, leaves already coming down in bunches, crunching under foot, a lovely bitter-sweet sound.

Time rolls on, along with adventures that go with it.  Aging cannot be stopped, the seasons continue inexorably.  And with them the promise of newness.  Never the same, but still calling forth remembrances of times gone by.  There is the temptation to wallow in the past and cower from the future, in search of comfort I suppose, but then I am reminded that One thing amongst all this jumble, is always the same.  That is the Christ and the promise of new life in his name.  New life even now.  May we see all things through the eyes of that good news.

Peace and blessings in Christ,

Pastor Randy

"Almighty God, Creator of all things, we bless you for creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your gift of love, for the means of grace and for the hope of glory given us in Jesus. Give us such an awareness of your mercies that with truly thankful hearts we show our praise for you in the living of our lives.  In the name of the Christ.  Amen."
