Pastor's Weekly Message

"O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" Psalm 8:1

Sounds like the psalmist is speaking of the Creator's most impressive handiwork, and indeed there are words in this psalm about "the heavens ... the moon and the stars....".

But I've been witness to something over the last few days that, while not so impressive as the moon and stars, certainly speaks of the majestic to me.  Some robins have built a nest in a fairly open area near the house.  Didn't even notice the nest for a while, and shortly after taking note it was obvious that a family had come into existence.

There are four babies, and it has been a kick to take in their silent chorus as mouths are raised high at feeding time.  In just a few short days the nest has become a crowded spot as the youngsters jostle for position.  The activity, effort, care, danger, helplessness and more, speak to me of the majesty of the Creator.

There is grand stuff all over the place.  Looking to the heavens, watching baby birds, listening to the faithful singing or youngsters sharing their faith.  The list could go on and on.  There is much to take us away from such things, and there is no denying such a part of reality, but sometimes all I can do is pay attention and give thanks.

In Christ,
Pastor Randy

"Creator, in the face of all that life throws at us, we are reminded of how weak and helpless we can be on our own.  But, we are not alone.  During creation, your spirit swept across the depths of the ocean, molding the chaos into your creation.  Today, sweep across the depth of our needs, and remold us into new creatures, people filled with your glory and power. Amen."
