Pastor's Weekly Message

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

Change is constant, although it may not always be apparent.  Sometimes it is comforting, challenging, sorrowful, surprising (come up with your own adjective).

There was a major change in our back yard.  It became apparent, in a short time in my mind, that the cedar tree at the corner of the house had died and was drying out swiftly.  It is gone now.  Already miss sitting and watching the birds perch in its upper branches.

At the same time thinking of watching Daphne, our sweet nearly one year old grand daughter.  Every visit brings surprises and entertainment, constant change.

And then there is the Christ, present in the death and the life, the changes that make up living, making it possible to carry on, or enjoy it all the more.

In His name,
Pastor Randy

Pastor's Weekly Message

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field...." Matthew 13:44

Stumbling upon the gifts of God.

You've been spared for a few weeks, for which you may be thankful.  But this writing is headed back to the park again.  In search of a little solace and exercise, maybe some frogs, that would be plenty.

Walking out on the point of land sticking into the western end of the pond.  Coming around a bush at waters edge and a heron takes off just above our heads.  Watching it fly back deeper into the park.  Head in that direction in hopes of another glimpse.  There it is, in our favorite frog watching spot.  We sneak up quietly, but some others do not.  Flying off again, back to the broadest part of the pond.

Eventually we end up back at the middle of the pond, straight across from this gangly, yet elegant bird, and watch for a uninterrupted half-hour as it starts and stops along the shore, staring down into the water, darting and snacking along the way.  Beautiful, sigh inducing, stuff.

Like a treasure hidden in a field.

In praise of and thanks to the Creator,

Pastor Randy
