Pastor's Weekly Message

"See I am making all things new." Revelation 21:5

Tried and true words to fall back on when writing at the beginning of a new calendar year.  It is only a change in the year number, but for many there are resolutions made about a change in life style.

In truth things are made new day by day, moment by moment.  That newness is jot held in check by the delineation of days, months or years on a calendar.  That is not news in any way, but a good, and oft needed, reminder.

And while this may seem trivial to some, or self indulgent to others, I am reminded of a piece of my past (in a small way) that I recall every year at this time.  It was on December 31st, 1972 that one of my all time favorite baseball players died.  His name was Roberto Clemente.  He died on a plane carrying relief supplies to earthquake victims to Nicaragua, in an effort he had organized himself.  In my heart that is about trying to make all things new by being a blessing to another.  There are no calendar limits for that.  There is no need for waiting for a specific moment to begin.  As Anne Frank is purported to have written, "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."

Happy New Year,
Pastor Randy

"Holy God, as the Christ child pierced the darkness to join humankind, we ask now that you would pierce our hearts with the unrelenting truth of your Word.  May our hearts be fertile places in which it may enter, take root and produce much fruit.  In the name of Christ we pray.  Amen."
