Pastor's Weekly Message

"Surely God is great, and we do not know him; the number of his years is unsearchable.  For he draws up the drops of water; he distills his mist in rain, which the skies pour down and drop upon mortals abundantly."  Job 36:26-28

I know it is early, and there is a whole bunch of gray yet to come.  But on these days, when you can tell it is day time only because it got a little lighter, it does tend to squash the spirit a bit. Staring out my office window, watching and listening to the traffic on Cornell, just thinking. Determined that the dull sky would not be the last word for me this day.  Guess what?  The sun came out.  I know it won't always work that way, and that we must find our light in other places.

So, I look out the window again and see lots of color besides gray.  Just across the road there are plenty of splashes of color from the leaves.  Think of this morning and the two chapel times with the KOK kids, and what a kick it is to sing "He's Got the Whole World" with them, especially when we make up some of our own verses.  Remembering Sunday night and our "Giving Thanks" dinner.  The space was full, the food was grand, the conversation was loud, interspersed with much laughter.  Smiling at the thought of the gusto with which we sang at Sunday school opening earlier that morning.

There is plenty of light in these gray days, a reminder that "surely God is great".

In the peace of the Christ,
Pastor Randy

"O God, our hearts break for those whose hearts are breaking.  We grieve with those who are experiencing  grief.  Bring them comfort s only you can.  Let them know that they are not alone, that you are with them and that we stand beside them.  At the same time we rejoice with those who are rejoicing; we celebrate the ways you are blessing and providing for those among us.  We know that you are the God of the broken and the joyful.  Amen."
