Annual Congregational Meeting

SOV's annual congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, June 11, after the 10:00 service (only one service that day).  The purpose of the meeting will be to receive the annual report from committees and officers, to vote for Council Committee positions and open Executive Committee positions, and, this year, to vote on an amendment to our constitution.

The amendment to the constitution is being proposed by the Council as it was determined Section C11.03 of the constitution is not as clear as intended.  The section currently reads:

No officer shall hold more than one office at a time.  No elected officer shall be eligible to serve more than one term in the same office, except for the treasurer who will be eligible to serve two terms.

We did not intend for this to indicate that an individual could serve in a particular office only once while a member of SOV, but that could be the interpretation from the way it is written.  Therefore, Council is proposing that this section be amended to read as follows:

No officer shall hold more than one office at a time.  No elected officer shall be eligible to serve consecutive terms in the same office, except for the treasurer who will be eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

As you can see, we added "consecutive" in order to clarify the section.  This amendment will be presented for vote at the meeting.

Please add the meeting to your calendar and join us for this annual event.

Yours in Christ,
Linnea Harmon
Council President
