Pastor's Weekly Message

To the family of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church,
Standing on the back deck of my home for the night.  Can hear the buzz of Hwy 26, the trickle of what I take to be a water feature in a neighbor's back yard.  The waning moon is about a quarter above the horizon, shining brightly, leaving a warm glow on the dark lawn.  There are wispy clouds streaking across the sky and stars visible directly above me and to the west.  It is lovely, truly beyond words in the end.
I am alone, but not lonely, talked to Choice a few times, to my daughter Amie, to many folks here at SOV, and so never really alone either.  Reminded of some words I saw on a wood carving at St. Andrew Lutheran Church when I was there for a meeting today.  From Psalm 139:1ff " O Lord, you have searched me and known me.  You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away.  You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways."
Turn to that Psalm sometime, and though there may be some disconcerting words, it offers the comfort of One who is always with us.
Peace and blessings,
Pastor Randy
"Almighty and ever living God, with mercy you look upon our weaknesses.  Stretch out your wondrous hand to protect us from danger and restore us to health, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.  Amen"
