Greetings Family of Christ at Shepherd of the Valley,
Sometimes I find myself low on patience, and it shows. There are deep sighs, fidgeting and shuffling feet. Reduced to the behavior of an unruly child. It is not always easy to maintain a positive attitude. (None of this is news to you is it? Or maybe you have a much better grip on reality.)
As it always seems in this life, there is something else to turn to, something else to lift us through those difficult times. Turning again and again to the beauty of nature, and in this time of the year there is beauty aplenty.
Stepping from the grocery store to bright sunlight and the beauty of an abnormally warm mid-September afternoon. The trees in the parking lot are a blindingly, brilliant yellow. And that is only the beginning. May you add in the moments of beauty that you have taken in (or take the time now to take it in).
As the Psalmist writes, "The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork." Psalm 19:1
In the peace and power of the cross,
"Eternal light, shine in our hearts. Eternal wisdom, scatter the darkness of our ignorance. Eternal compassion, have mercy on us. Turn us to seek your face, and enable us to reflect your goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen."
