Pastor's Weekly Message

"....they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest......" Isaiah 9:3

I suppose most folks don't feel a thrill at the sight of black berry vines.  Have cut back plenty of them myself, throwing them on a pile to be burned.  But seeing them at the edge of the back yard of our new home made me smile, especially considering they were growing on the other side of the fence.

Have been watching the vines, trimming some, but not the ones that were flowering.  And suddenly (at least it seemed sudden) there was fruit, and some of it appeared to be ripe.  In the bright late afternoon sun light I navigated the thorns and precarious setting and picked the darkest berries.  Some were a bit tart (alright they weren't really ready) bit it seems that nothing tastes better than those first few.  I couldn't help but grin.

It wasn't truly a harvest, but there was joy none the less.  Another reminder of the richness that the Creator has set before us.  May we all have at least a taste of this richness and rejoice.

In praise of the Creator of all things,
Pastor Randy

"At our baptism we died with Christ, but we have also been reborn with Christ.  Scripture calls us the first fruits of the new heaven and new earth.  May we strive to put away those things that take us away from God.  Amen."
