Ain't it the truth? And it does seem to be a daily occurrence, or at least nearly so. to be a little worried, if not for myself, then for someone else. For the life of this community of faith. For kids, if not my own, then someone else. After watching another days news cycle there are concerns for neighbors, for this nation, for the whole of the world. For children in the world whose sorrow I can scarce allow myself to take in.
It is then that I turn to the wonders of the world. Again a heron suddenly rising and gilding through the park. A chorus of crickets in a field. The reflection of a suddenly lit half moon in the water of the pond. The seeming skittish movements of bats just above my head, flitting around the trees, too quick to number. (And in what way do you find solace?)
Those things do not know they are an ease to worries, an answer to prayer. And if they be an answer, why not my own self as well, or any of the lot of us? We, as an answer to prayer? A challenge for the morrow and "trouble enough for today".
"Loving God, we come to you in gratitude for your love, which is always present to us. In the stillness of moments, we remember with thanksgiving the times in our lives when your love has enabled us to rise to our better selves. We thank you for the gift of your Son, who came that we might know what perfect love looks like. Amen."
Please keep in your prayers Chris and Jennifer in the recent death of Chris's mom.
