While those words speak to a little larger piece than I am thinking about, they do speak to the ways things sometimes are. This past week this place (the building that houses, in some sense, the community that is Shepherd of the Valley) has been a mess. New windows are going in everywhere. There has been loud intermittent noise, plenty of dust and dirt, lots of tromping and a general sense of purposeful chaos.
But that is the way it is sometimes. There is a mess before some grand things are visible. There are times when my vision cannot see what is possible, and only the mess is apparent. But that is pretty shortsighted. And I have been surprised many times. These changes, this construction, as a metaphor for life I suppose. The Creator is never done and may His hand always be at work amongst us. (Sometimes my vision just can't keep up.)
"Lord, we are often a stiff necked people. If things are not done in our favor, at our timing, for our good pleasure, then we become impatient and fearful. Please give us moments of clarity so that we can see clearly your love and ultimate plan for us and journeys through the wilderness. May we know patience and be assured of your continued presence. Amen."
Please keep in prayer James and Jennifer's son Josh as he faces prolonged illness and recovery from recent surgery.
