Ah, but there are those moments of intensity when "times" and "matters" are not at all neatly divided, and a whole bunch comes at once. The season we are just finishing can certainly be like that. Christmas can be filled with tremendous highs and lows, intermingled. But the rest of our days can be filled with much richness too.
Feeling the weight of a heavy heart and then the comical beauty of a flock of geese honking over head can make an unexpected difference. Hearing the sorrows of another and then recalling moments of thankfulness all the more. The vagaries of life.
A time for every matter alright, and God present in the whole delightful mess. Is that the case for you?
"Merciful God, you spoke a word and light appeared in the darkness. We pray that you would speak to us now, that your word may again illumine our lives and our world. May the same power that separated day from night and flung billions of stars into place, ignite within us a desire to hear, know and obey your word. Amen."
