"...a time for every matter under heaven..." Ecclesiastes 3:1
That seems to fit just what is going on this week, except all that matters seem to come at almost the same time. Talked about that very thing on Sunday, a Palm and Passion Sunday at the same time. The roller coaster that is Holy Week. Filled with promise and sorrow, challenge and hope.
So it can be from day to day. This day was like that. Time with the young ones from KOK. We talked of meals, the Lord's Supper, Eucharist (to more than one child that sounded a lot like yogurt, so off we went). We sang and grinned. There was a call from an old friend who has a brother suddenly diagnosed with a serious heart problem. Two folks who fell, with various injuries as a result. Picking up two grand babies from school and sharing a hug in parting providing a blessed boost. Hearing of another friend making it through a medical procedure, one step more, maybe good news as a result, and there was much more.
How was your day? The point seems clear, "for every matter under heaven", the Christ present in the fullness of life.
In the peace and power of the cross,
"O God, even now, we feel the darkness gather as we remember again the stories of your time at the Last Supper and in the Garden of Gethsemane. A sense of loneliness and foreboding hangs in the air. As we recall that time we recall our own lives as well. Forgive us for not being more faithful. Help us to reflect and remember what your persecution and death mean to us. May we be prepared to greet Easter with a sense of awe and a renewed commitment to new life in you. Amen."
