"Praise God from whom all blessings flow..." from "The Doxology"
The end of a long day with some time to think and that thinking finding some expression in these words.
Thinking of the imminent departure of Kevin, who has provided much amazing music for the SOV family. Praise God for the gift Kevin has been here. Praise God for the fact that he will be missed. That is much more blessed than the alternative.
Thinking too of some beauty seen in the last few days. Seeing the white petals of the cherry tree seemingly glowing in the early morning light. Taking in the verdant richness of the back yard grass. Being surprised by a Blue-Jay just above my head. Not a scrub jay, so common around here, but a Stellar Jay, deep rich blue, crest and all. Praise God from whom all blessings flow indeed.
There are challenges ahead (big surprise), and we have little chance of meeting them unless we begin with, and allow ourselves to be strengthened by, those words from the Doxology.
May the blessing strengthen us for all of life ahead.
"Lord, you have called us for the purpose of being sent. Strengthen us to go, to shine the light of Christ into the darkness, to speak truth to falsehood, to love in the midst of hatred and to live as those who belong to another. In the power and promise of the Christ. Amen."
