The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, ...." Song of Solomon 2:12
In the bible I am using right now these words are part of a section entitled "Springtime Rhapsody". My senses can attest to the truth of that. Their is beauty to be taken in all over the place.
Taking in the tulips, lilacs, wisteria and their scents and colors. Hearing the creek gurgling and the tree frogs conversing, the back yard filled with birds singing, chasing one another, and the squirrels leaping and cavorting. Having been in central Oregon for a bit and taking in the beauty of the night time sky there, and the silence, looking at the mountains on the drive back, the distinct peaks of Broken Top, the Three Sisters, Three Fingered Jack, Washington and Jefferson, such beauty. Driving along and seeing parts of the streets literally pink from flowering trees. And that is but a small part of the wonders that surround us.
The creation sings and we are invited to join in the chorus. When feeling burdened and worried may we be lifted by the Creator's invitation to sing.
Glory to you O God,
"Slow us down, O God, and speed us up. Let us be slow to speak out in judgmental anger and quick to offer words of encouragement and understanding. Enable us to catch the vision of a life in which the creeds and deeds are one and make the vision our own. Enable us to catch the vision of lives seeking similarities rather than differences, of common ground rather than divergent roads. Enable us to catch the vision of Jesus, in whom all things are one, through Christ our Lord. Amen."
