What an amazing string of days and nights. Especially enjoying the evenings when we had a chance to be home before dark. Reading to the last light, taking in the sights of those self same "winged birds", but especially enjoying another winged creature not mentioned specifically in the creation account. Every evening, shortly after dusk, the bats appear, about a dozen or so around our house. Where they sleep I do not know, though we do have a bat house, and I have found one in a hanging flower basket, and in our patio umbrella before.
Though not endearing in appearance, they are a kick to watch, besides serving an excellent purpose in the bugs they consume. They swoop and dart about in a seeming frantic state. Our littlest grand baby even does a dance in celebration of their appearance (though dance may be a generous word). But in truth her joyous gyrations echo what scripture tells us, "And God saw that it was good."
Thanks for the gifts Lord.
In praise of the Creator,
"Lord, wonders abound in all of space and time. Please give us the wisdom to appreciate them, and grant that we would be strengthened by them, so that we too might be a blessing to the whole of creation. Amen."
