Pastor's Weekly Message

"How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity." Psalm 133:1

The day after nation elections. A time when the word partisan came to the fore again and again. It alludes to seeing things one way with no desire to consider any other possibilities. A term used by both sides in a highly divisive time.

Has it been more divisive before? Didn't seem like it to me. But examples were brought forward from history to show it has been worse. Strangely that did not provide me with any comfort.

Truth be told I can feel pretty partisan myself, but have tried to keep that in check before I get to pompous about being right, or pretending so anyhow. And that becomes the point for me.  National decisions are grand, and words hopeful, but it means little if we do not treat each other with respect.  I think of how important  it is when we care for each other in spite of our differences.  How it strengthens us when we simply care for each other when we face the challenges of life together.  The Psalmist said it simply, "How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity."

Please guide us Lord,
Pastor Randy

"We want so much to help others and sometimes, we confess, we do not know what to do.  Help us to be focused on the life of your Son so that by his example, we might be faithful in our service to others.  Breathe on us the breath of new life; break down the walls of our resistance, O God, so that we might do what you would have us do.  Amen."

The Role of Education in Promoting Brain Health:  Learn to Live Well

Have you been to see a good play lately?  It seems that television doesn't do much to help our brains, but live theatre is a much more interactive experience.  Support your local high school, college, or professional theatre, or plan a theatre trip to The Big Apple for a getaway that will be good for your brain!
