Pastor's Weekly Message

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:7

From Christian Century magazine: "Tarn Wilson, a high school English teacher, sat with a student after school to talk with her about a memoir the student had written concerning her depression and attempt at suicide.  Wilson asked the student, "What helped?"  The student responded that she had been helped by friends who encouraged her, who argued for life, even at times when she was too sullen to respond.  The she said; "Just being there. Physically.  Being there.  You don't have to say anything at all."

"The peace of God which surpasses all understanding."  And in that same issue of the magazine are these words, in another article. "Talk to someone on the phone who may be lonely for 15 minutes.." in answering the question what can I share today?

We may be recipients of such peace.  We may certainly be providers of such peace.  There is such power afoot, and we are a part of it in seemingly simplest of moments.

Guard and guide our hearts Lord,
Pastor Randy

"Loving God, please bring healing to those who are sick; bring peace to those who are afraid.  Bring hope to those who face discouragement; bring joy to those who face sorrow.  You know all that we face, so we give you our cries and concerns.  Thank you for loving us and knowing us so deeply.  In the name of the Christ.  Amen."
