Pastor's Weekly Message

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life ... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 8:38-39

The call came at 9:00 am on Monday.  Helen Jean had died about 15 minutes earlier.  A short time after that I shared a prayer with her four sons (and some other family). We also shared, as we had the day before, tears and stories, and thanks for a sweet gift of life given in the form of this diminutive woman.  Monday morning death lay right before us, but love was in our hearts.  It was a matter of perspective.

Later in the day came the news of the bombings in Boston.   More sorrow, for many reasons, but not the loss of hope.  Still a matter of perspective.

Things continue to arise that may seem so very important, but events like those that captured my heart on Monday, may make us look at things in a different fashion.  So often what seems so very important may be a matter of perspective.  May we give thanks for the gift of the Christ, a gift of life and love in the face of death.

In Christ,
Pastor Randy

"Let us put aside our worries about tomorrow and our regrets of yesterday.  Let us let go of our busyness and frenetic lives and be still.  Let us breathe in the assurance of the Holy Spirit and quiet our minds as we open our hearts to be in the present - and pray.  Amen."
