Pastor's Weekly Message

"How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver." Proverbs 16:16

Probably get some argument over that one, but with those words in mind I simply want to share some quotes from some of the stuff I read this past summer, things that may make you go "hmmm".

"A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be." Albert Einstein

"There are two ways to be fooled.  One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true."  Soren Kierkegaard

"I maintain that the human mystery is incredibly demeaned by scientific reductionism, with its claim in promissory materialism to account eventually for all of the spiritual world in terms of patterns of neuronal activity.  This belief must be classed as a superstition .... we have to recognize that we are spiritual beings with souls existing in a spiritual world as well as material beings with bodies and brains existing in a material world."  Sir John Eccles

"If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things."  Rene' Descartes

"I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be."  Albert Einstein

"To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible"  Thomas Aquinas

That's enough of that for now.

Peace in Christ,
Pastor Randy

"Come Holy Spirit, we pray.  Fall upon us with power and grace, wisdom and might that, as the Word is read and proclaimed, it becomes alive in our hearing once again.  Clear away the fog of distraction, burden and busyness that blinds us to the truth, and then strengthen us to live it out. For the sake of the Christ we pray.  Amen."
