Pastor's Weekly Message

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1

The Preacher of Ecclesiastes sure nails it for me.  There is a time for everything, and sometimes they seem to run together.

Standing out back watching the leaves fall in bunches.  The sound and smell under the cover are the reminders of many years gone by.  But there was also the cover of a startlingly blue sky, such beauty, and the reminder of another summer past.

Cutting back the huge butterfly bush, recently damaged in a storm, and while doing so a hummingbird feeds on a last bloom right next to my face.  A moment frozen in time.

Driving north on 205, seeing massive Mt. St. Helen's looming in the distance.  Such a moment of beauty, and the only reason I am there is that I am returning from Sunnyside Hospital, deep in thought about the reality of the ravages of illness.

Joy and sorrow sometimes hand in had, "a time for every matter under heaven", and the Creator present with me in each of them.

In praise of the Creator,
Pastor Randy

"O most loving Lord, you want us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing except losing you, and to lay all our cares on you, knowing that you care for us.  Grant that fears and anxieties in this mortal life may not hide from us the light of you immortal love.  Amen."
