Pastor's Weekly Message

"And the peace of God, which passes all human understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:7

In some words just before these in Paul's letter he also writes about "not worrying about anything".  Sounds great, so I turn to them time and again, far too often without the kind of success I desire.

Thinking about those words and some of the beautiful nights we were privy to this last week.  No clouds and a full moon high above.  Everything was bathed in a silver light.  It makes everything seem a bit more peaceful to me.  But on consecutive nights that reverie was threatened a bit. One night a skunk shared my space, and while I was not threatened by him, at the same time my gaze was not always on the beauty of the that celestial orb.  The next night there was a good sized raccoon who began to approach me aggressively, on stomping my foot he retreated, but the beating of my heart had me feeling less than peaceful.

The point for me is, the realities of life will continue to invade my attempts to find peace, but God will continue to try and provide it for me, often beyond my understanding, and it seems especially sweet when that is the case.  A peace beyond my understanding is real peace indeed.

In Christ,
Pastor Randy

"As we come to you in prayer, O God, help us to focus our hearts and our minds on you.  Help us to breathe in all that is ours; the beauty that surrounds us and the words of love given to us when we least expect them.  We offer these words in the name of the one whose time on earth was lived so that we might know what a life of love looks like, in the name of the Christ.  Amen."
