Pastor's Weekly Message

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Wonderful are your works; that I know very well."  Psalm 139:14

These words from Psalms are offered because they point to the many things we are gifted enough to enjoy.  The chances to appreciate the richness of life are many.

Just a couple of hours on a recent day off, there was sunshine and a bit of warmth.  Outside I was met with the smell of a burn pile from across the gully, an acrid smell, and yet the provider of memories as well.  So many fall seasons, places miles away, good stuff in the end.

So I tucked under the eaves, out of the wind, still feeling the suns warmth, listen to leaves skipping and crackling down the street.  An occasional bike rider swooshing by.  There was another smell in the air as well, a pungent scent coming from two huge bushes of mums, deep burgundy beauties with bright yellow at the center of their blooms.  Despite all the cutting back there are still other blooms too.

When the traffic increased I slipped on some headphones, listening to bits of Van Morrison's "What's Wrong with This Picture?", and reading "The End of Your Life Book Club" by Will Schwalbe (insert your own music and reading here).

We have been wonderfully made, with opportunities to appreciate the wonderful works around us.

Thanks for the blessings Lord,
Pastor Randy

"Good and gracious God, we welcome you into our midst and invite you to make yourself known to us in silence, in the symbols and the words and melodies and actions of our days.  May we make the moments to lay aside all else but the desire to be in your presence, touched by your grace and fed by your word.  May we apprehend the Holy, and more importantly, that the Holy might apprehend us.  Amen."
