Pastor's Weekly Message

"O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever."  Psalm 107:1

Amazing news this past week that SOV gave away enough good baskets to feed 36 families, over 100 people. If the numbers are not exactly right, suffice it to say that the needs are great. Yet there is other news as well that we need to take in.

This one seems pretty obvious for me today.  Thanksgiving time, so let us give thanks for sure, in all kinds of ways, whether it be sharing a small kindness to a stranger, or a big blessing to those you know could use it.  It seems to me that in giving to those around us we have a grand way to give thanks.

Another possibility, and this is not some startlingly new revelation, is that it is a perfect time to let family and friends know how thankful we are for them.  That is not a possibility for many, so may we appreciate all the more the gifts we have been given.

If you are unable to do so, my thoughts and prayers go with  you, and may there yet be a chance to know that indeed "his steadfast love endures forever."

Blessed Thanksgiving,
Pastor Randy

"Lord of all, we come to you in gratitude for your love, which is always present to us.  In the stillness of this moment, we remember with thanksgiving the times in our lives when your love has enabled us to rise to our better selves.  We remember with regret the times when we have  acted in anger rather than in love. Grant us the grace to give our guilt into the hands of your love.  In the the name of the Christ we pray.
