Pastor's Wednesday Message

Dear friends in Christ.

For many people, John 14:2, from the Gospel lesson for last Sunday, evokes an image of what heaven must be like. Jesus said, "In my Father's house there are many dwelling-places." Some translations use "mansions" in the place of "dwelling places". Either translation causes us to think about heaven as a place that is so unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime.

But maybe the emphasis need not be so much on a physical place, but on a relationship. What makes a house a home? It's not the building that makes a home. It is the loving relationships that take place there.

Heaven is not so much about a place as it is about our loving relationship with God. Jesus has formed this relationship and the Holy Spirit keeps it vital. We are already in this relationship with God, whether we are in this life or the next.

We are already at home with God. It is a loving place to be!
