Wednesday Highlights

October begins on Sunday!  Here are some of the things on my list for this busy month:
  • Sunday School begins!
  • Confirmation class for grades 6-8 will begin on October 15, the Third Sunday, from 12:30 to 3:00.
  • On Sunday, October 29, Shepherd of the Valley will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. There will be one worship service that day at 10:00 a.m. and a potluck will follow. During the month of October a special offering opportunity will be available to contribute to the needs of those affected  by fires and hurricanes during the last several weeks. More information will follow from the committees!
  • I will be gone for a few days (9th through the 11th) for the annual Synod Bishop's Convocation, a time for rostered ministers and pastors of the Oregon Synod to gather with synod staff for learning, training and conversation.
  • Stewardship! Watch for opportunities to think about giving as a part of your discipleship as the Council and Committees begin to develop a Spending Plan for next year.
I hope your fall is going well! See you at worship.

Pastor Dan

Pastor's Wednesday Highlights

…….from Pastor Dan

As we move into fall at Shepherd of the Valley and as we move forward into our journey together, it is time to get some things started!

Wednesday morning Bible Study  will resume next week, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. This week we will be studying the lessons for the upcoming Sunday (October 1) focusing on the Gospel Reading: Matthew 21.23-32. We will also decide how to shape the future studies. All are welcome.

Confirmation Classes  for grades 6-8 will meet this year on the Third Sunday afternoons from 12:30 to 3:00! This group will meet once a month and will focus on the Lord's Prayer, the Apostles' Creed, the Ten Commandments, the Sacraments (Baptism and Communion), faith and life and, of course, the Bible!

The 500th Anniversary of the Reformation will be celebrated on Sunday, October 29 at Shepherd of the Valley. Be alert for further announcements and details from the Committees and Council.

Along the way,
Pastor Dan

SOV Church Picnic September 9, 2017

There will be a church picnic at 4 pm this Saturday. Everyone is invited to join in on the food, fellowship and fun.

We are aware of the smoky conditions. If necessary the event can be moved indoors. The situation will be monitored closely.

The church will provide the main dish and a light desert. We ask that you bring your favorite side-dish to share potluck style. There will also be plenty of games to play, and hopefully memories to be made.

Weather pending, the event will be held outside to soak up the last few rays of summer.

To help with event planning, please RSVP for the event. You are encouraged to invite friends to attend this event – all are welcome. To RSVP simply follow the link below.

We are also seeking volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and coordinating games and activities. If you would like to volunteer, there is a separate link to a google spreadsheet to sign-up.

Please direct your questions about the event to Jacob T, who will be anchoring this event.

See you there!
